Working with you

Occupational Health is a distinct area of practice relating to how people function in the working environment. As a General practitioner with an additional qualification in Occupational Medicine (the Diploma of Occupational Medicine), Dr Victoria McBride will determine if an employee is fit to carry out their duties in the workplace, and if not, help employers and employees to achieve this.

Dr McBride provides occupational health support across a wide range of occupations and a variety of industries and roles, from office-based jobs to those undertaking safety critical work in complex environments.

Fitness for work assessments

Dr McBride provides fitness for work assessments, which are medical evaluations to determine if someone is healthy enough to do their job safely and effectively. These assessments are often used when an employee is returning to work after an illness or injury, or when there’s a concern about whether they can carry out certain tasks.

The process is supportive and focused on what the person can do, ensuring they won’t put themselves or others at risk at work. In short, it helps both the employee and the employer feel confident that it’s safe for the person to be at work and that they can do their hours and duties in their place of work.

Return to work advice

At Courtyard Health Clinic, Dr Victoria McBride provides support and guidance for employees returning to work following injury or illness.

These assessments can be conducted either in clinic or via video call, offering flexibility to suit individual needs. Appointments last 45 minutes and can be booked directly by employers via email or phone.

Ionising Radiation Medicals

Ionising Radiation Medicals are specialised health checks for people who work with sources of ionising radiation (like X-ray equipment or other radioactive materials). By law, these check-ups must be carried out by a doctor who is officially appointed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

As an HSE Appointed Doctor with additional training in occupational medicine, Dr Victoria McBride is qualified to perform these medicals. Through these medicals, Dr McBride helps to ensure that employees stay healthy while employers remain compliant with all safety requirements.

General Occupational Health assessments and advisory services

Dr McBride’s general occupational health services cover a wide range of work-related health needs, supporting both employees and employers in creating a healthy, safe, and productive workplace. This includes individual health evaluations for employees (for example, checking if a medical condition could affect their job or recommending appropriate adjustments) as well as guidance for employers and HR teams on workplace health and wellness matters.

Whether it’s advising on a smooth return-to-work plan after an illness, or helping develop a workplace health policy, Dr McBride’s focus is always on providing practical, friendly support. The aim is to keep employees healthy and safe at work, while also helping businesses meet their health and safety responsibilities and maintain a happy, productive workforce.
