Skin and Mole Checks: Looking After Your Skin This Summer

Dermatology

We offer specialist dermatology care within the clinic, alongside the support and continuity of your GP.

Our dermatology service is led by Polly Buchanan, an experienced Consultant Dermatology Nurse with over 40 years’ experience in both adult and paediatric dermatology.

Polly has worked extensively across NHS Scotland and England and was the first Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist, and later the first Nurse Consultant in Dermatology, to be appointed in the UK. She is a Queen’s Nurse and remains actively involved in education, research, and professional development within dermatology.

What we can help with

Polly provides expert assessment and management of a wide range of skin conditions, including:

  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Acne
  • Rosacea

She also has a particular interest in:

  • Skin cancer prevention
  • The psychological and social impact of long-term skin conditions

Her approach is thoughtful, holistic, and tailored to the individual, recognising the significant impact that skin conditions can have on day-to-day life.

Working alongside your GP

All our GPs are experienced in assessing and managing common skin conditions. However, we are very fortunate to have Polly’s specialist expertise within the clinic, allowing for more in-depth assessment and ongoing support where needed.

This ensures a joined-up approach to your care, with continuity and specialist input when appropriate.

Appointments

Polly runs a limited number of clinics each month.

If you would like to book an appointment, please contact the clinic and our team will be happy to help.
